fter a Separation many people lose their way or want and need to change direction in their life. This usually includes reassessing your needs and desires on the job front.

A fool will lose today and tomorrow reaching back for yesterday, as I borrow a phrase from that heartfelt singer Dionne Warwick and her 70's classic song I'll never love this way again.

More often than not, the hurt of yesterday can interfere with your moments of today which inevitably can mess up your future. As the bricks of a house are laid with precision to build your dream home, so must your decisions be carefully planned and executed each day to build your future bright, not only for yourself, but for all those around you.

If you are not feeling all that bright at present, fear not, for your almighty power will shine strong and true providing energy and warmth for eternity as you regain more and more confidence. The clouds will move out of sight and your light will beam strong and pure for the whole world to see. You are one of God's creatures and here for a good reason, whether you are aware of that reason or not.

Now part of this reason is to get back on your feet and get yourself a job, no matter what the troubles of yesteryear have been. It's time to move forward and your time may be right now.

By job I mean paid work — in comparison to the many of us who have slaved away from time to time, where earnings of labour may never have shown. So all that may be needed to help you get back in the groove of life are some good reasons to get a paid job, apart from the obvious and very good reason of money.

Below are just a few to perhaps help you gain some clarity about your state of mind, present situation and where you want to go, although I'm sure there are far more reasons for getting a job. What other reasons can you think of?

DreamsA job can be just a means to an end, an income to fuel your greater love and passions, more desirable pursuits, adventures and dreams
EnjoymentFun, excitement and good feelings should be the order of every waking moment. It is the high octane fuel that keeps your fires burning daily
OpportunityEvery problem will reward you with the opportunity of solving it, learning more and bettering yourself creating enjoyment and greater all round value. Also you are sometimes in a better position to see what's in the marketplace for other more preferable jobs, and can be especially helpful to gain ideas for a new business venture
Self EsteemYour achievements will grow daily boosting your confidence and worth. Make friends with your internal power — it will reward you
NetworkingWork and careers are all about people, and people are all about relationships. Spread the love and knowledge — we are all here to help each other grow and advance
PurposeFinding a vocation or calling in a job possibly has to be the ultimate feeling of fulfillment and purpose. Being rewarded in more ways than just money for working away at what you love could only be described as a career of bliss we should all endeavour to discover
MovementRight or wrong action produces results. From these results will come ideas and a source of inspiration
EnvironmentPut an end to you getting bored, gets you out of the home, fresh air, new people, places and environments will feed your mind with new pictures from which new ideas will grow into exciting masterpieces
MoneyNo explanation needed, save to say money can facilitate a greater enjoyment in life through the power of giving to others. Although JOB can be an acronym for Just Over Broke, a job can certainly be a stepping stone in the right direction toward greater rewards
SurvivalBoth your psychological and physical form will improve with paid work giving you a greater sense of control over necessities and material things. Many people have learned to equate surviving with money
SecurityMany have come to accept job insecurity and as such become more resilient with job loss and better equipped at change and networking seeking out new opportunities. Those who haven't are wise to learn this skill
SkillsIncrease your tangible and transferable skills making it easier and quicker to jump to more preferable work positions
GrowthSeek out all opportunities to gain considerable personal development — a key attribute in all successful people
MotivationThrough routine, time management, competition and challenges your life will inevitably fire up making it easier to push into new directions faster
ImageFor many who have a job your self image improves making you feel and look happy to others. This is in turn makes for a warmer and friendlier community and certainly helps attract better people and things into your life

Although in many professions being an employee is not the true path to wealth — the elusive holy grail that many strive for, gaining both time and financial freedom — having a job nonetheless is an income source and can certainly help keep the wolves from the door, easing the pain of being either on or close to financial poverty possibly on welfare and providing you with a moderate level of comfort, giving you space to contemplate and build something bigger and better.

Remember, life is always a master plan in progress, including all of it's twists, turns and setbacks. There is always plenty of time to make your true desires come true if you focus with all your heart on what you really, really want and start today.

Here's to you finding that ideal job that will bring your dreams that one step closer!

With love, kindness and peace
Michael

PS Those, who had been the earners in the intact home, but who happen to be unemployed, either at or because of the separation, need every empathy too until emotionally able to resume work. - Separation is devasting, whether one is the parent who works at home, or the parent who works for a wage, or a parent who does a bit of both. The comment just posted was intended to give due recognition to the unpaid work of the home, not to dimish the paid work. Heaven knows our children need both. Accolades to the wage-earners too!!

Yes, this is good advice. Those who do not have primary carer roles for the children of the relationship and who are unemployed ought try to get back to work as soon as the stress they are under allows. They have an obligation to do so so that they can provide for their children and, if on sufficient income, for their spouse's upkeep also while s/he conducts the vital role of caring for the couple's children. The unpaid work of caring for children is longlasting. It is to be hoped that children not be denied the opportunity of the benefit of the work which (mainly) mothers do at home because of separation when they have had home childcare before. Close to Mothers' Day accolades to women who work at home. Though unpaid,it is the MOST important work there is!

For years I have been attempting to get back to work after a tough separation but having no luck with Government job agencies who just seemed to be very inefficient. I complained to DEEWAR the overseeing body but they just said go back to the job agency and more or less tell them what you want. I have done this however they just seem to be so slow. I feel I'm being duck shoved between govt bodies, and are there for them, rather them being there for me. Any tips on what I can do?
